(left) This is what you see once you have chosen to boot your Acer from the USB stick you loaded the Linux/Gparted Live CD system onto. Just select the top (already highlighted, default) option and prepare for page after page of messages!
(Right) The Linux load will pause whilst it complains about an unusual screen (video) resolution (that's your Acer's 1024 x 600 pixels). Press ENTER to choose the option that refers to video mode 315 (option 9 in this screenshot).
Look I know the quality is low but I had to take these shots with my phone as I don't know how to do screen captures before an operating system loads up!
(Left) This shows the Linux OS loaded and the Gparted program running. It shows my hard disk with the first partition for Linpus (now resized small) and a new, much larger partition for XP. Finally you can just make out a tiny partition for the Linpus swap file which you will still need.
Hint: if you want to invoke any of the utilities or programs included with the Linux live OS (eg terminal), either double-click one of the icons at the top of the screen, or right-click the screen background and make your option.
